The Origin of Mother’s Nature
Rhonda Reynolds is a Canadian with a farming background, now living in the UK. Her passion for growing food and herbal medicine comes from her grandmother, who lived through the war and passed down her knowledge of gardening and foraging, which had been passed down from her mother and grandmother. These traditions still remain in the family being passed down to younger generations.
After moving to the UK, Rhonda began growing her own food and medicinal herbs on a small allotment. However, after being classed as disabled, she faced challenges making her plot accessible due to allotment board restrictions. This experience inspired her to document her journey of learning to garden small and at home. She decided to explore ways to make gardening accessible for everyone—whether you have a large garden, a small balcony, or mobility challenges, and Mother's Nature was born.
What You’ll Find Here
Mother’s Nature focuses on growing organic herbs for herbal medicine. While we provide guidance on cultivating your own apothecary, we leave the remedy recipes to trusted sources, which we will suggest to you with links to their books. Modern herbalism blends tradition with scientific research, and we encourage using both for safe and effective herbal practices.
Gardening is one of the most inclusive hobbies, and we aim to share practical advice, inspiration, and real-life experiences to help you create a thriving green space—no matter your circumstances. Along the way, we’ll explore RHS gardens across the UK, interview horticulture experts, and feature insights from Rhonda's brother, Warren, a cannabis researcher in Canada. While his work focuses on medical marijuana—which remains illegal in the UK—it offers valuable perspectives on plant-based wellness.
How This Site Works
This site is free and always will be. It is important to note that AI has helped bring this site to life, allowing us to focus on sharing valuable content. We share knowledge through blog posts, and Rhonda has also written a book, Plant, Grow, Heal: which will be available on Amazon at the beginning of April, which provides a step-by-step guide to creating your own accessible herbal garden.
We will also soon have a shop-like page featuring products we personally use and endorse. These will include associate links which will take you to Amazon, or affiliate links from other companies, meaning you will be redirected there and we earn a small commission if you choose to purchase through them—at no extra cost to you. For seed and seedling sourcing, we have included links that we are not paid for, but because they are trusted certified organic, open pollination seed sites, we need them to succeed with our support, so that we can maintain seed sovereignty.
We hope you enjoy this site and find inspiration in its pages. Let’s grow together!
